Flu Shots:
We have received a small shipment of Flu Vaccine for patients 18-64 years - call today for an appointment. We are due to receive a small shipment of High Dose Flu Vaccine for patients over 65 years in the coming week. Please call our office and we will be happy to place you on our waiting list. Dr. Felzer is recommending that you receive the vaccine in October to maximize the benefits.
The vaccine is delayed this year due to a reformulation. We will be happy to administer your flu vaccine but will understand if you chose to receive it elsewhere. We have ordered enough flu vaccine to cover our patients. We are disappointed that once again the large chains, pharmacies, grocery stores, etc. receive ample supply before physicians’ offices.
Vacation:
Dr. Felzer will be out of the office on the following days- 9/30, 10/09, and vacation on 1/22/2020-1/28/2020. Dr. Kevin O’Hara will be on call for us during those days. The office will remain open 9am-3:30pm to help facilitate your care.
Thanksgiving 11/28-11/29, Christmas 12/25, and New Year’s 1/1/2020 the office will be closed and Dr. Felzer can be reached by calling 302-633-1442.
Pain Management:
Due to the national opioid crisis, we are required by the State of Delaware to follow certain rules and regulations when prescribing pain medications and any other medication combinations containing those medications (example- codeine cough syrup). The maximum prescription can be for 7 days. If longer treatment or a refill is needed, you will be required to have an office visit and enroll in our pain management program. Many of our patients are aware of this already but a previous medication, Tramadol, was excluded. We now will have to enroll patients on recurring prescriptions of Tramadol in our pain management program.
Biotin:
Biotin is a coenzyme and a B vitamin. Because biotin is present in so many kinds of foods, deficiency is rare. As a supplement, biotin is sometimes used for hepatitis, brittle nails, hair, neuropathy, and other conditions. If you currently are on Thyroid replacement medication, it can severely affect the results. We are recommending all patients stop Biotin before all lab work, regardless of Thyroid disease, at least 3 days before you have your blood work drawn.
Student:
We welcome Margot De Deyne, RN, a nurse practitioner student, that will be here Tuesday and Thursday until the end of December.
